Fundraising Ideas

You don't have to reinvent the wheel to come up with ideas, just go with what you know.

  • Ask a local salon if you can take a percentage of their sales that day. Then tell EVERYONE you know about the date and tell them to go make an appointment. People give more when they are getting something in return (and a good feeling usually doesn't cut it).
  • Put a jar at work for loose coin. Go to a local bank that has a coin machine and ask if they will cash the change out for you since it is for a good cause. (The worse they can say is No, if that happens, let me know, I have a few connections in the banking world).
  • Email Email Email. The Relay website is a great way to send out requests to people. It links the people right to your website. Also, you can track to see who has read the email and who is being lazy.
  • Tag Sale (ask friends and neighbors to donate items for you to sell)
  • Host a pre-Miss Relay contest at a bar.
  • Put a link to your Relay website in your signature on your email, so every time you send out an email, there is a little reminder.
  • One of my team mates makes a really awesome cheesecake, so for Easter she made her family purchase slices, and that money went into her Relay jar.
  • Have a "home" party (jewelry, food, kitchen equipment, etc) and ask that everyone invited donate $5
  • Host a Texas Hold'em contest, part of the buy-in goes to your Relay jar.
  • Hold a car wash (I would suggest you wait till May or so before doing this)
